Donald H. Alspaugh
Having graduated from Texas Technological College (Texas Tech University) in 1964, Don Alspaugh launched his career as an officer in the United States Air Force, serving in the Strategic Air Command in various capacities but all involving the Minuteman missile system. Wanting to change "helping others" from an avocation to a vocation, Don resigned from the Air Force, entered the University of Colorado School of Law in 1970 and graduated in December 1972. In mid-1973, Don began his law practice in Longmont.

Don's practice includes areas as varied as real estate development and representation of business entities, but his primary areas of interest now involve estate planning and administration, guardianship and conservatorship, nursing home planning which often includes Medicaid.
Personal areas of interest over the years have included serving for 15 years on the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley (2 years as President), various leadership positions over 30 years in the First Congregational UCC of Longmont (3 years as Moderator), and for the past 6 years he has spent a week each year doing construction in Katrina-damaged areas of Mississippi.
Phil S. Wong — Real Estate Attorneys in Longmont, CO
Phillip S. Wong was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He is the son of two immigrants. His family owned a Chinese restaurant in Albert Lea and he worked there until he started college. He completed his freshman year at the University of Minnesota, but transferred to the University of Colorado, Boulder as a sophomore. He obtained his BA degree in economics from CU in 1974. He attended the University of Colorado School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1977. His only job as an attorney has been with Schey, Piller, Alspaugh, & Wong, P.C. since 1977.

James Merson — Real Estate Attorneys in Longmont, CO
James Merson is a very experienced criminal defense attorney. Throughout his career, he has represented the accused in thousands of criminal cases, successfully reducing charges, getting charges dismissed, and winning acquittals on many cases. He is a seasoned trial attorney, conducting nearly 100 jury trials over a 14 year span. He has handled everything from misdemeanors to first degree homicides. He has also litigated appeals in Colorado District Court, the Colorado Court of Appeals, and the Colorado Supreme Court.  
 
Mr. Merson proudly served as a trial attorney in the Greeley Regional Office of the Colorado Public Defender from 2005 to 2019. In 2010, he was honored with the "Attorney of the Year" award from the Colorado State Public Defender for outstanding service as an attorney in the Greeley Regional Office. He was selected for this award out of hundreds of attorneys in the Colorado Public Defender system.

Neil E. Piller — Real Estate Attorneys in Longmont, CO
Neil E. Piller (Of Counsel) 
Neil was raised in the corn fields of southern Illinois. His desire to see something other than corn stalks led him to Yale University where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. He completed his graduate education at the University of Colorado School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctor Degree and was a member/editor of the University of Colorado Law Review. Following law school, Neil was the legal assistant for U.S. District Judge O. Hatfield Chilson in Denver. He has been a partner and officer of Schey & Schey, P.C. and its successor, Schey, Piller, Alspaugh, & Wong, P.C. since 1973.
Neil's practice emphasizes personal injury work, including automobile accidents, wrongful death cases, and other types of accident-related injuries, as well as general litigation. His other areas of practice include commercial transactions, corporate and partnership organizations and consulting, estate planning and administration, construction and real estate law.
As the main litigator in the law firm with more than three decades experience, he provides his clients with personalized attention and service. In personal injury matters, he has been able to recover in excess of $11 million for his clients.

Rich was raised in rural Nebraska. He attended Northwestern University and Chicago-Kent College of Law. He started practice in downtown Chicago with a law firm that traced its origins to the Chicago fire. He and his wife later relocated to Colorado where he joined a 17th Street firm in downtown Denver. His wife then entered ordained ministry which took him and his family to the eastern plains of Colorado. The family relocated to Longmont where his firm and practice are today.
