Neil E. Piller

Jim H. Nelson is a refugee from southern Illinois. His father taught at Southern Illinois University. Jim did his undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins University where he earned a BA in American History. He continued his education at the University of Virginia where he was awarded a Master's Degree in American Legal History. He then attended the University of Colorado where he earned his law degree and was a Moot Court finalist. Jim served as Editorial Assistant for the American Law of Mining, 2nd Edition and Supplement, and worked as Contributing Editor for the Honorable William Erickson and the Honorable William Neighbors on United States Supreme Court Cases and Comments, Criminal Law and Procedure. Jim accepted a position with Schey, Piller, Alspaugh, & Wong, P.C. in Longmont where he has practiced ever since.

Away from the office, Jim has been an active Johns Hopkins alumnus and has served on the Johns Hopkins Alumni Council.

Jim's practice is oriented to civil litigation, including commercial litigation, real estate, collections, landlord/tenant disputes, construction law, and appellate practice. Jim also assists clients with real estate transactions.
